Any computer or informatics related topic will be considered; however, preference will be given to topics relevant to the target topics.
-- IMPORTANT --
The official AVMA Call for Speakers is already closed. We MUST have our titles submitted soon or we may not have space allocated in what is a very small convention center. Therefore, the deadline for submission is
***** Tuesday, June 8, 2010 ******
We know this is really short, but we appreciate your efforts to accommodate our timeline.
-- OTHER INFORMATION --
Submissions are invited from both inside and outside the veterinary profession, wherever information technologies have been shown effective in solving real problems for veterinary practitioners. Presentations will be chosen competitively with preferences to those aligned with the symposium's theme and/or with information the practitioner can take back immediately to practice.
The Education Committee of AVI will review all proposals. Selected speakers will be notified by July 15, 2010. Speakers who speak a minimum of four Speaking Hours qualify for travel, housing, and per diem reimbursement plus $275 per speaking hour. Speakers who speak less than four hours do not qualify for any travel, housing or per diem reimbursement. Instead, they are paid a “flat rate” of $625 per speaking hour. Complimentary convention registration is available to all speakers. To receive these quoted rates, speakers must submit all necessary information by the posted deadlines. For more information contact Dr. Suzanne Santamaria (email: slsantamaria at vt.edu)
Speaker notes will be requested after selected speakers are notified. Please submit your abstract for review electronically to Dr. Suzanne Santamaria (email: slsantamaria at vt.edu)
PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT SPEAKER'S NOTES AT THIS TIME
After your presentation has been accepted by the AVI, notes (electronic and paper copies) should be submitted to the AVMA (not AVI) next spring (2011). A packet of informational material will be distributed that details the process for submission of proceedings and compensation.
Suitable presentations may be sponsored by the AVI for publication in JAVMA or the Journal of Veterinary Medical Education. Please use the proposal submission form below and e-mail all completed proposals to: Suzanne Santamaria (email: slsantamaria at vt.edu)
