GPT for DVMs: Navigating LLMs with Confidence and Care

Large Language Models (LLMs) offer unprecedented opportunities to enhance clinical efficiency while maintaining high standards of patient care - however, like every clinical tool it must be used with intention and care.

This webinar provides veterinary professionals with both theoretical foundations and practical implementation strategies for LLM integration in clinical practice. We'll broadly explore the technical underpinnings of LLMs, examine current research supporting their efficacy in medical settings, and address critical considerations for maintaining privacy, security, and accuracy in veterinary applications. Drawing from recent studies demonstrating significant improvements in clinical documentation efficiency and diagnostic accuracy, we'll explore how both general-purpose and veterinary-specific LLMs can augment clinical decision-making and administrative burden.

The session includes guidance on prompt engineering techniques, strategies for preventing AI hallucinations, and specific workflows for integrating LLMs into daily practice. Through real-world examples and case studies, participants will learn to leverage LLMs for medical scribing, diagnostic support, and enhanced client communication.

By the end of this webinar, attendees will have a comprehensive understanding of both the capabilities and limitations of LLMs in veterinary medicine, along with practical strategies for implementing these tools to improve practice efficiency, work-life balance, and patient care. While LLMs represent powerful tools for advancing veterinary practice, emphasis will be placed on viewing them as supplements to, rather than replacements for, clinical expertise.
