Volunteers are the heart of our organization and there are many ways to get involved with AVI. Read more about ways to help us educate, grow, and guide the field of veterinary informatics below.

Join a Committee

Committee member positions typically run for a few months to one year, and we welcome members to stay on board longer. Committee chairs are appointed annually by the AVI President, but often stay on longer than one year for continuity.

Project-based Assistance

Projects are often run through one of the committee chairs above, but the AVI Board also needs assistance from time to time. If you have a specific skill or idea, please email us at info@avinformatics.org.

Examples of skills we are looking for:

  • Graphic design
  • LIMS / VetBloom administration
  • Contract review
  • Marketing
  • Content creation (informatics white papers, resources, etc.)
  • Meeting/event hosts
  • Historian

Run for the Executive Board

AVI holds bi-annual elections each year. President and President-Elect are elected in odd years. Treasurer and Secretary are elected in even years. A call for nominations will be sent out in the summer and positions change over in the fall.

The role of AVI President is a unique opportunity to guide the direction of our organization. Candidates should be expect to spend 2 years as President-Elect, 2 years as President, and 2 years in a reduced capacity as Immediate Past President.
