Progress in Antimicrobial Stewardship Using Big Data in Australia

Over 10 years, researchers in our team at the University of Melbourne have used a combination of veterinary informatics and big data to describe antimicrobial use, evaluate antimicrobial stewardship programs and develop evidence to guide veterinarians in their clinical decisions. In this webinar, Laura will highlight the successes, pitfalls and gains made in interdisciplinary collaborations, engagement with veterinarians and importantly in the appropriate use of antimicrobials in animals.

About the presenter:

Dr.Laura Hardefeldt is a 2003 veterinary graduate of Murdoch University, a boarded specialist in large animal internal medicine with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and a researcher at Melbourne Veterinary School. She has completed a Master of Public Health & PhD at the University of Melbourne and the National Centre for Antimicrobial Stewardship. Her research focuses on antimicrobial use and stewardship in veterinary practice and she is an international leader in implementation of stewardship programs and analysis of antimicrobial use data.
